Nigella Lawson and Pete Evans couldn’t be more different as she replaces him on MKR

Nigella Lawson is set to replace disgraced chef Pete Evans in the upcoming season of My Kitchen Rules.

And it seems Channel Seven couldn’t have found a more different chef to replace the cooking show’s controversial chef.

Nigella, 62, has previously said she doesn’t like the term ‘clean eating’ and is adamantly anti-diet, while Evans lives by her extreme paleo beliefs.

In 2016, the British chef told The Australian: “I don’t like the term ‘clean eating'”.

She continued, “It’s coming from a place where eating is kind of a bit dirty and there’s a shame,” before adding, “but if you ask if I think fresh, unprocessed food is a good thing, of course it is’.

“I’m also very aware that for a lot of people it becomes something that can tip an unhealthy relationship with food the wrong way.”

Meanwhile, Pete spoke at length about his paleo diet, which he says has added decades to his life.

Essentially a low-carb, high-fat diet, followers can eat grass-produced meats, fish and seafood, fresh fruits and vegetables, eggs, nuts and seeds, and “healthy” oils. “.

Prohibited products include dairy products, cereals and grains, potatoes, refined sugar, processed foods and salt.

“Once upon a time, I used to work out in the gym and had a standard Aussie diet,” he previously told News.com.au.

“I had muesli in the morning, a wrap or sushi for lunch and in the evening I cooked pasta or a stir-fry.”

“I thought I was doing all the right things according to what our dietary guidelines and so-called ‘experts’ promote.”

But many medical professionals have criticized the controversial diet.

Nigella is set to replace disgraced chef Pete on My Kitchen Rules as he prepares to return to Channel Seven later this year.

The British chef will appear in the upcoming season alongside returning judge Manu Feildel.

“Going to a restaurant can be a treat, but for me the real story of food is told through the cooking we do at home,” Nigella said.

“So having the chance to champion home cooks and having the intimate privilege of being invited into people’s homes to eat their food fills me with gratitude and excitement in equal measure!”

She added, “I’m so looking forward to working with Manu too. Although he is a chef and I am a home cook, the fact is that we both want to eat good food. I feel like I have a lot to learn from him, but just know that we’ll have a lot of fun in the process. I can not wait !’

Manu previously worked with Pete as judges on My Kitchen Rules for 10 years, before Pete was fired from the network in May 2020.

The pair were often the subject of rumors that they didn’t love each other, with a source revealing in 2017 that Manu thought Evans was “weirder than weird”.

Evans has been embroiled in a series of controversies since being fired by Seven for his extreme views.

He previously claimed that COVID-19 was a “f**king hoax” and that the pandemic “doesn’t compare to what’s happening around the world on a large scale”.

Among his false claims about the pandemic, Pete previously said he was immune to the coronavirus and blamed the health crisis on 5G technology.

He also backed fellow conspiracy theorist David Icke, a Holocaust denier who was refused entry to Australia last year after protests from the Jewish community.

MKR had once been a ratings juggernaut for Seven, but its popularity has plummeted in recent years as viewers flocked to Channel Nine’s Married At First Sight instead.

In 2020, its eleventh season averaged 500,000 subway viewers per episode.

At its peak in 2014, the fifth season drew an average viewership of 1.891 million across the five major cities.
