Pringles stops making vegan products in an attempt to ‘save costs’

Iconic US potato chip producer Pringles has sparked outrage in the vegan community for adding milk to some of its products.

This came after customers noticed that several flavors were no longer vegan.

One of the most popular in the stackable line is Texas barbecue sauce, a flavor that has long been suited to vegans.

Other once-vegan flavors include Original, Paprika, Smoked Bacon, and Sweet Pepper. But now vegans won’t be able to enjoy the snacks because of the added dairy products.

Via social media, Vegan Food UK took to the news, calling it a “step backwards.”

Vegan Food UK is an online organization that shares news, reviews, vlogs and more on vegan food. It works across multiple social media platforms, with a Facebook group, Facebook page, YouTube channel, and Instagram account.

He also released a company statement.

And, the reason for the change is to allow Pringles to increase its “capacity” as well as “reduce costs,” the company explained.

Additionally, it enabled the brand to “reduce the amount of food waste” in line with the ability to meet sustainability commitments. But the brand has yet to publicly explain how the addition of milk achieves this.
