Raven-Symoné’s Wife Helped Her ‘Kick Sugar’ and Lose 40 Pounds

  • Raven-Symoné, 36, recently opened up about her recent 40-pound weight loss.
  • She says her wife Miranda inspired her to “cut the sugar” and start her weight loss journey.
  • Now Symoné says she is eating more keto and whole foods as part of her intermittent fasting plan.

Raven-Symoné just got honest about her weight loss journey. The actress, 36, revealed she had lost 40 pounds over View— and that doctor’s appointment changed everything for her.

After a conversation with her doctor, Raven said she realized “what made me want to change was her,” pointing to his wife, Miranda Pearman-Maday, 34. “I want to be there for her for as long as possible. I found a few numbers at the doctor’s that weren’t pleasant for someone in my age bracket or any age bracket, to be honest with you,” she continued.

With “help, advice, love and fantastic cooking skills from Miranda, who everyone here knows, she helped me give up sugar.”

Here’s how Raven lost 40 pounds (and counting):

Raven started an intermittent fasting plan.

In June 2021, Raven explained that she had already lost 30 pounds in three months through intermittent fasting. “I’m low carb as much as possible,” she said during an appearance on hello america. “I exercise very little and am a speed junkie. I make sure I have a minimum of 14 hours of fasting between dinner and breakfast.”

“I’m not here to try to be a little twig,” Raven continued. “I want to make sure my body is healthy and ready to face old age.”

Fast forward to 2022, and Raven is still going strong with intermittent fasting. “Actually, I’m talking to someone here at View every day about fasting because I’m also an intermittent faster and an extended faster as well,” she said.

She cut sugar from her diet.

“I say sugar because it’s an addictive drug,” Raven explained on View. “I was addicted to it in wheat form, in regular form, and it’s out of my system.” She added that her sugar habit even showed up “in a fillet of fish with an extra packet of ketchup – two on Fridays!”

She still loves desserts, like cookies, but says she’s now looking for ones that “are keto-friendly. And I have whole foods.”

    Raven remained consistent.

Although exercise wasn’t a big part of Raven’s weight loss journey, she found what worked for her and stuck with it. “I’ll tell you the numbers,” she told her co-host Joy Behar. “When I finished this show [in 2016] and i started The Raven’s House, I weighed 210 pounds. I am now 170 years old.”

“Books, books. Look at the chin,” she said during an Instagram Live video with wife Miranda in May 2021. “See that chin? If you all look The Raven’s House literally right now then come on this live and see this joint i have a whole different face. It’s quite a trip down.”
