Sidhu fasts begin after dinner and end at breakfast: Sukhbir Badal
Chandigarh, October 9 (PTI) SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal on Saturday called Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu’s fast in Lakhimpur Kheri a “tragedy”, saying his hunger strike “began after dinner and had ended before breakfast “.
Sidhu ended his fast on Saturday after Union Home Minister of State Ajay Mishra’s son Ashish Mishra showed up for questioning.
The Punjabic congressman, who met the family of 28-year-old journalist Raman Kashyap, one of eight people killed in the violence, had fasted and could be seen lying on a cot in the house of the scribe at Lakhimpur Kheri.
Reacting to Sidhu’s hunger strike, Shiromani Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Singh Badal said he wanted to ask Sidhu to stop making “dramas”.
“@Sherryontopp is just an attention seeker. His hunger strike to arrest Ashish Mishra was a comedy that began after dinner and ended before breakfast. He does not know the difference between appearing in front of the police and being arrested: the head of SAD Sukhbir Singh Badal ”, according to a tweet from SAD.
Ashish Mishra was appointed to an FIR over allegations he was in one of the vehicles that mowed down four farmers protesting the visit of UP Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya , last Sunday.
Sidhu in a tweet on Saturday said, “I broke my fast with Raman Kashyap’s family… After Ashish Mishra surrendered to take part in the surveys. The Almighty gave me the strength to fight for a just cause… The Way of Truth will always triumph !! ”
Sidhu had said he would go on a hunger strike if the union minister’s son was not arrested by Friday or if he did not join the investigation. PTI CHS VSD RAX
