Sonoma County Small Business Lending Manager Nominated for Latino Business Leadership Awards
Priscilla Jaworski-Quintanilla of Redwood Credit Union is among the winners of North Bay Business Journal’s 2022 Latino Business Leadership Awards.
Here is some information submitted by Jaworski-Quintanilla:
Among the first class of Maria Carrillo de Santa Rosa High School (Class of 1999), I continued my education, graduating from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and a minor in Theater.
I have worked in the non-profit and government sectors, and now in financial services. Although they seem like different worlds, the common thread has been my commitment to helping people, striving for excellence, and serving with purpose for something bigger than myself. I have found that my varied work background has provided me with several advantages. It taught me to be adaptable and not be intimidated by uncertainty.
As a successful professional, what were the biggest obstacles you faced and how did you overcome them?
Being underestimated by those who couldn’t see my full potential while personally knowing that I could do more was one of my biggest challenges. Patience is not my strength, but over the years I have learned to pause, build my own confidence and stand up for myself.
What are you most proud of regarding the achievements of the Latin American business community and what are the biggest challenges facing this community?
I’m incredibly proud What are you presenting? and that we are part of the conversation. We engage in the moment and have the courage to speak up and tackle inequality head-on. Our challenge will be to keep the fight going, keep those conversations top of mind, and celebrate the victories along the way. We also need to engage with other communities of color and invite them to participate in the work of progress in our community.
“Being an actively engaged mom with two young boys, a girl and a wife is really where it’s at. From a young age, my mom instilled in me a perspective of seeing every opportunity as a gift and not not taking things for granted. This ideal continues to fuel me every day – to live life to the fullest, take advantage of every opportunity and lean into it.
