British online supermarket The Vegan Kind has hired a new chairman, Tony Buffin. According to the company, Buffin has a proven track record in growing and transforming businesses across multiple industries.

Previously, Buffin served as CEO of multinational health and wellness chain Holland & Barrett and CFO of Australian grocer The Coles Group, as well as various other senior positions. Additionally, he is the founder of Tecsa, a digital ecosystem development and analytics software company.

The Vegan Kind says Buffin’s wide range of industry skills, particularly in the areas of digital and data, finance and transformation, will help accelerate the company’s scale.

Big plans for 2022

Last September, The Vegan Kind launched a new brand image to better reflect its “shop of tomorrow” identity and appeal to a wider customer base. Then, in early 2022, the company unveiled big plans for the year ahead, including an own-brand lineup, customer loyalty initiative, reduced shipping costs and B Corp certification.

“I’m thrilled to join The Vegan Kind to help Scott, Karris and the entire team continue to grow their wonderful business,” Buffin said. “Their mission is to make it easy for everyone to buy exciting plant-based foods at affordable prices and help us all live healthier lives. Switching to plant-based diets is vital to avoiding the worst impacts of climate change, so it’s truly inspiring to help consumers be kinder to themselves and the planet at the same time.
